School's Out For Summer
By the time the last week of term arrives, most parents have a crazily long mental checklist.
School plays, sports days, leavers’ assemblies, reports, uniform that suddenly doesn’t matter anymore, holiday packing… and last but never least there are the appreciative gifts for those who have been so significant and important throughout the year.
Front of mind is teachers, but let’s not forget the others who sometimes contribute as much but don’t receive the same degree of thanks: teaching assistants, sports and activity coaches, childminders music teachers and friends who helped with the school run when you couldn’t get away from work on time or traffic was bad.
They’re not expecting gifts, and most would probably say they don’t need one. But everyone likes to know they’ve been appreciated.
What makes the difference isn’t how much you spend. It’s whether the gift feels like it was chosen for them rather than grabbed on the way home. The teacher who loves gardening probably doesn’t need another mug. The coffee lover, the baker, the walker, the gin enthusiast or the keen reader will all remember something that reflects who they are.
It’s not just schools either. Summer is often when work colleagues cover holidays, suppliers help you out and clients are more patient than they needed to be. Those thank yous rarely make the diary, but they’re often the ones worth making.
We spend a lot of time talking about personalised gifts, but for us that isn’t really about adding a name to a box. It’s about choosing something that says, “We thought about you.”
That’s always what people remember.
We have perfectly themed thank you and occasion gifts or if you know the recipient well enough why don’t you Build Your Own perfect gift?
